Art is Inspiration

One definition of art that I feel is well suited is ‘works produced by such skill and imagination.’ Art is not a matter of how intricate something is or how beautiful it is. It is something that catches my eye and I can find appealing. It isn’t always attractive and it isn’t necessarily more than a simple photographed image. One quote that has always been significant to me is “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” This is how I feel about art. I may be walking through my hometown and see graffiti splashed across the brick wall of a local shop and find myself starring. If it is an enjoyable display of colors and an eye-catching image, an illegal act can become art to a girl walking past.
Art does not even need to be a work displayed for one to see, it can be made for one to hear. Music is a large aspect of my life that allows me to feel through a sound. With my given definition of art, music fits well into that category as well. Art is a form of expression that can be enjoyed by the artist as well as others. It can be in words, an image, or a sound as well as many other forms.
One artist in particular that I find intriguing is Andy Warhol. Growing up in Pittsburgh the Any Warhol Museum was often times a location that I attended on school trips, days out with the family, and at times just in the case of a visit for pleasure. Warhol is specifically intriguing to me for his use of color and images unlike most artists. His work never fails to be eye catching and raise a sense of curiosity, interest and enjoyment in me. His choice of colors are always bright and vibrant which is something I always seem to find intriguing and most times his art seems more simple than intricate. He interests me and having been able to grow up attending the Andy Warhol Museum allowed me to gain appreciation for his work. This has made him a strong influence in my views in art.
Another group of artists who I find unbearably inspirational is The Beatles. Although often times their songs could be related to drugs and times that I did not experience, they never fail to have a song for me to relate to and give me something worth thinking about. They are a group with so much success and they are truly timeless. Years after the peak of their career they are still more than popular throughout the world. Their music is thought provoking, interesting, and unique.
Art is everywhere and is used in day-to-day life. Although it isn’t recognized in the same way it may be when walking through a museum, it is everywhere. Whether it be a change of season, a piece of art on display walking through a hallway, or a song playing in Findlay Commons, it is all a piece of work that is full of skill, imagination, and promise to those who look at it finding inspiration. While I am one to enjoy the little things such as a leaf falling of a tree beautiful, some may not even look at the most renowned piece of art and find it intriguing. Art is the foundation of my experiences and my inspiration.
